My contractor did a good job for RM700 closing mini cracks along the N/S and E/W roof top whilst my main concern were only the two mentioned. However, recent 1/2 hr and 1 hr heavy pouring rains required the contractor to come back twice to patch up roof leakage where rain water converge along a collector beam. In the meantime, I am discussing with friends online who own a similar motorcycle marque or its siblings how to resolve a technical issue common among us, that is, the right carburettor of the twin carburettor setup tends to be slightly on the rich side and has been diificult to tune even among season mechanics from various workshops. This popular PD26JS carburettor as mentioned on the internet has a good reputation yet this issue has never been mentioned even in reviews at motorcycle forums. I have observed after my carburettor was given a full service clean-up, the first thing, the mechanic did was to balance the butterfly flaps with a common size wire, a common technique. There is an internal lever connecting both carburettors so tuning the air-fuel mixture screw in the right carburettor correspondingly adjusts the left screw internally. Before all this, the mechanic said the diaphragms were in good condition, common culprit if tuning runs off. lastly both carbs are balcnce by a syncronized central screw. However, the right spark plugs gets sooty after a month whereas the left spark plug is clean. I am comtemplating buying main jet, slow jets and needle of a lower number which implies less fuel enters the carburettor only for the right carburettor but finding a mechanic willing to retune the carburettor is difficult as retuning takes up lots of time easily 1/2-1day because its a case of trial and error.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvpCRBrkVfdn-yVWq7W-Nz7sEOXryXJv8oFffP7VlyUtfuN_IyVYPyX53flFEyvsbMFHPPiPBc76IfpRHnRn4EB_SU3d-1cIQfvpur1wsJmsjPDHsiPVn0YO0voZyu3U92lLp8elXhhDA3DDw_D7mQ05k0ETlUC1T_lnPfmefEVBJ3QUpOAv0YWV9kz0Y/s3024/IMG_4725.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="3024" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhvpCRBrkVfdn-yVWq7W-Nz7sEOXryXJv8oFffP7VlyUtfuN_IyVYPyX53flFEyvsbMFHPPiPBc76IfpRHnRn4EB_SU3d-1cIQfvpur1wsJmsjPDHsiPVn0YO0voZyu3U92lLp8elXhhDA3DDw_D7mQ05k0ETlUC1T_lnPfmefEVBJ3QUpOAv0YWV9kz0Y/s320/IMG_4725.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">We stoped by at Sri Sendayan middle of January as daughter bought a house there for investment and we went to collect the keys and went to see the completely built house which still has been inspected by all but TNB. We bought the house at a time when the housing boom was fast increasing and houses were constructed rapidly but depending on your unfortunate luck, quite poor in quality so such complains were common in the neighbourhood.</span></div><p>This contractor recommended by a neighbour who had his roof leakage sealed offered a flexible quotation base on my budget: He would repair roof cracks according to the seriousness of crack. as he was confident houses like my type would have many roof cracks by now. Still, I told him my affordability was RM700 (Earlier quotations elsewhere were also around that figure) and he agreed. After visiting the roof top, he found many cracks along the roof top ledge and the tile as well as spots on tile cracks. He then came down to inspect from inside where the actual leaks occured and would concentrate on those areas, only three but bad enough to require me to place big plastic containers at strategic points whenever it rains heavily with quarter of a saucer full of rain water after a heavy downpour. However the ceiling crack caused by a shrub's 3' roots that found it way on the roof ledge saw rain pouring down quite profusely during heavy thunderstorms and that was serious as it was close to the router's extension cable.</p><p>I showed the clips to my neighbour who recommended him and he said considering the number of visible cracks shown, RM700 was reasonable price but we are actually paying more for the risk factor contractor and workers have to face up there because material cost was nominal. Yesterday, it rained heavily and all leaks stopped. Alhamduillah. The contractor gave a 6 months warranty from the date he completed the day-job.</p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-86541197090543570852022-04-12T12:30:00.003+08:002022-04-12T12:31:38.432+08:0030 years old water tank float gives way<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Nzrs9Cx47jp1B9PgMGgc6XoIqNjZXQZkeGz1i1nq-vTZyGbOrKqB3zJ_qtAjyh1pUh2MrXS_pBj6R-VYF_MDhKF_NZLmUb342MpBldYsmsj2qbR5rPmk04RSAPwgsPlQYAuA3Cxs9HJ4-iKb4Ug4EzErb95NPKtHZ3e934zABf2UVoLcCzPnTiWZ/s1242/IMG_3380.PNG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1242" data-original-width="1242" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9Nzrs9Cx47jp1B9PgMGgc6XoIqNjZXQZkeGz1i1nq-vTZyGbOrKqB3zJ_qtAjyh1pUh2MrXS_pBj6R-VYF_MDhKF_NZLmUb342MpBldYsmsj2qbR5rPmk04RSAPwgsPlQYAuA3Cxs9HJ4-iKb4Ug4EzErb95NPKtHZ3e934zABf2UVoLcCzPnTiWZ/s320/IMG_3380.PNG" width="320" /></a></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTbIQCSNeMiYncA-uy540JDBPpRNCy6HfbCRe3MjZXkmibNTpylzBoluKSAFgrzZU-hB5bdWH3cLYkm9T1BgOkquDu-Nsoss_0PvKvledvuKdqy5AA9BXAy2f1G5ZuuCBY3v5nDhob0ymEcy2u2b-IeUC1BOwST78Z0L6WOxPT9HFWG5g6ZbFWVTxi/s3264/IMG_3376.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiTbIQCSNeMiYncA-uy540JDBPpRNCy6HfbCRe3MjZXkmibNTpylzBoluKSAFgrzZU-hB5bdWH3cLYkm9T1BgOkquDu-Nsoss_0PvKvledvuKdqy5AA9BXAy2f1G5ZuuCBY3v5nDhob0ymEcy2u2b-IeUC1BOwST78Z0L6WOxPT9HFWG5g6ZbFWVTxi/s320/IMG_3376.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><p></p><p>Every thing has an expiry date and for our water tank's float, it was 30 years old. This is something I could not do so that was that.<br /> </p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-43018615726207726012022-04-01T12:34:00.001+08:002022-04-01T12:34:57.349+08:00V-19 Wireless Header replaces trusty earphones<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK2G3Ee4XZEjfGAEy2Y9dzlfrAOQqFEaV3Hyfw2o9GAwz9Y16eAtVSn6qxQXKWmNTzp1HOzdMYwFQBSdkKGRwS-_pmJNP1AlczIz3XlGtda-qwUuonrshBUpvCKUDt7feXXyXM_eQJ9sHKn792nmD9nT3X-Z6ufBaL7voinlSc7q-YPs333m4pH86c/s2208/IMG_3271.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2207" data-original-width="2208" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhK2G3Ee4XZEjfGAEy2Y9dzlfrAOQqFEaV3Hyfw2o9GAwz9Y16eAtVSn6qxQXKWmNTzp1HOzdMYwFQBSdkKGRwS-_pmJNP1AlczIz3XlGtda-qwUuonrshBUpvCKUDt7feXXyXM_eQJ9sHKn792nmD9nT3X-Z6ufBaL7voinlSc7q-YPs333m4pH86c/s320/IMG_3271.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2gu0GuujXAMdDVph2Xa8JJL40PbG3jGtYAspNQo1_zeoqFEKCni1jGZxwVSLMPc8wS9kUN7a6mavNevxtio3Wk13Gzuz7oYtE8ZwXBGxlz2HUnmSs2e4nwu-EI5ZEu4NAlXMUyTTfswb431mShSGCDSQ-pfw9Rry4jrEB8LL1Ekmi2nRxmiMVeurT/s2448/IMG_3261.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg2gu0GuujXAMdDVph2Xa8JJL40PbG3jGtYAspNQo1_zeoqFEKCni1jGZxwVSLMPc8wS9kUN7a6mavNevxtio3Wk13Gzuz7oYtE8ZwXBGxlz2HUnmSs2e4nwu-EI5ZEu4NAlXMUyTTfswb431mShSGCDSQ-pfw9Rry4jrEB8LL1Ekmi2nRxmiMVeurT/s320/IMG_3261.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"> </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">After I had one too many expose wires from my iPhone earphone set, I felt it was time for a replacement but I did it with this RM16 Wireless Header from Lazada. The choice for this option was because I tend to get too engrossed using earphones and do not concentrate when someone calls so felt this was more practical. It took a few minutes to charge from a red warning light to turn to blue. This is my first time using such device and I found the silicone ear support very comfortable. After successfully connecting the Bluetooth feature from hand-phone to wireless header, I turned to a song at YouTube and was surprised, impressed, in fact, the the acoustics delivered was very good for a device this cheap on par with my iPhone earphone set. The front switch changes to the next song in YouTube and the rear switch selects the song before the current one. A tap on the side power button switches off the set. I have yet to test the microphone still I feel it is money well spent.<br /></div><p></p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-42186041447502839772022-02-24T11:10:00.012+08:002022-02-24T11:26:29.295+08:00Ya Allah, you blessed my professional carrier to the Nth value.<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhFjAPItDp7zPPvoGEDZcZ9WMXcNV0KrfXnOT4IEIDUd1iDgKg042Tcxrsx_kODuLueKowc3kMUvE5Bcn0gM1nHd-Yz49D6gVLwh1xFgVNDS8HjU1yl5caerhwGg0ipWgwg-bm9q96bm3xGGEB8bvaWp7UHKkF-bZOtdlETaPKaKZ3vRzldr75ghuEd=s1747" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1747" data-original-width="1243" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhFjAPItDp7zPPvoGEDZcZ9WMXcNV0KrfXnOT4IEIDUd1iDgKg042Tcxrsx_kODuLueKowc3kMUvE5Bcn0gM1nHd-Yz49D6gVLwh1xFgVNDS8HjU1yl5caerhwGg0ipWgwg-bm9q96bm3xGGEB8bvaWp7UHKkF-bZOtdlETaPKaKZ3vRzldr75ghuEd=s320" width="228" /></a></div> <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjtzQEe3uiah4L78Ne4ms9gZlDb1Ttqk4QZ0vZJmSceHZgakHMSN8cEvYJEz95chhl0s-4ZOfreqmMVLH92MXxVxsLURx24ZkgQ5dDHzWYfBD0Imi7hZCecVeS5ub5YySsULno_fnO83leRK_NAfRPnYmxWfXWF053KoDDqq8OwVFrh-71ISqwLe7Xx=s1851" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1851" data-original-width="1311" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjtzQEe3uiah4L78Ne4ms9gZlDb1Ttqk4QZ0vZJmSceHZgakHMSN8cEvYJEz95chhl0s-4ZOfreqmMVLH92MXxVxsLURx24ZkgQ5dDHzWYfBD0Imi7hZCecVeS5ub5YySsULno_fnO83leRK_NAfRPnYmxWfXWF053KoDDqq8OwVFrh-71ISqwLe7Xx=s320" width="227" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgTKjqHL9z-6jYnaw3dfExmmkBatyAtWsgWQxaTL7eZLPCaelvq0HEqy-Z845RPN9y_gp-hTESg0VlkUktbSscKvqFgkxZHCSMIGwSgbkjwUc-nOEDutc2-f0c9lcpPlfcKCcPC4uX5rEpNgTv_5GLpdwsbphPtyjZSHhxzEbLaIhUYLH6sMnjY0Pma=s1715" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1715" data-original-width="1194" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgTKjqHL9z-6jYnaw3dfExmmkBatyAtWsgWQxaTL7eZLPCaelvq0HEqy-Z845RPN9y_gp-hTESg0VlkUktbSscKvqFgkxZHCSMIGwSgbkjwUc-nOEDutc2-f0c9lcpPlfcKCcPC4uX5rEpNgTv_5GLpdwsbphPtyjZSHhxzEbLaIhUYLH6sMnjY0Pma=s320" width="223" /></a></div><br />In January 2022, 5 years after I ended my government service, I received a mail package containing an A4 document entitled "TOKOH (Figureheads) PlanMalaysia" from the old department which had even rebranded it's name from the Federal Department of Town and County planning to PlanMalaysia.<div><br /></div><div>In a department of 300+ officers and 700+ support staff nationwide, the current top management officially endorsed me as one of 9 people (not including previous and current Director-Generals) as a departmental figurehead, specifically, as the pioneer who introduced and promoted Open Source Software in the department (which incidentally is not even from my academic background but something I just happened to enjoy tinkering during my spare time). Of course, it is a great honor to receive this recognition as the previous top management often did not see eye to eye with me when I shared constructive opinions and criticisms so this document squashes all bad things said in front of as well as the back of me. It shows that Allah's blessing concerning one's professional abilities may not outstanding surface during one's professional carrier but while one pensioned and stamps that recognition on the department wall for all to see from now onwards. For all the blunders I made during my professional carrier, truly, I am blessed. From a different angle, it was already written long before I was even born. The problem is being practical, it is rational to wait at least for the current handphone to become faulty or hand-me-down it due to lack of storage space. The thing is that is not with me. The IPhone 6S+ I bought for wifey as a gift 6 years ago was used by her for 3 solid years then hand-me-down to daughter Sabrina as she needed a reliable handphone for her new job. Wifey too was also desirous of upgrading for the latest iPhone. Sabrina used that iPhone 6S+ for another 3 years but she decided to hand-me-down the iPhone as her job required a bigger storage space to store her WhatsApp business discussions. Coincidentally my humble Nokia 8110 4G had reached its maximum life-span so receiving the iPhone6S+ was a blessing. Still I got myself a silicone case because that iPhone has a smooth and slippery case. I used it for more than a year and it functions very well and there is still enough storage space for my needs so unless this handphone becomes faulty. I also prefer a smaller handphone because the iPhone 6S+ is difficult to take out from my slim jeans but I do not see it being faulty as it has proven itself to be a tough nut over the years. Ah well, maybe when the local 5G infrastructure has matured, it may be a good reason to upgrade the smartphone.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><br /></div><br /><p></p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-56883253532345009072021-11-24T12:18:00.008+08:002022-01-09T17:29:53.809+08:00New Cat Shooter squirts a distance of 24 feet!<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-sq-WyOO1e8F9VAiL1SpnA4lZaFBFpjLrJzu1BmDDbYo4fNcFAeMpY_YgHXoKdsr1ebqtQbQfLKFN1fsLeGBetIzmsPQdvy4-2EwSaEXnyxBiJJM73dez2dJ9empfmLZkw7zpkDOs1PQ/s2448/IMG_2285.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh-sq-WyOO1e8F9VAiL1SpnA4lZaFBFpjLrJzu1BmDDbYo4fNcFAeMpY_YgHXoKdsr1ebqtQbQfLKFN1fsLeGBetIzmsPQdvy4-2EwSaEXnyxBiJJM73dez2dJ9empfmLZkw7zpkDOs1PQ/s320/IMG_2285.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqQ0LYgfC7mcsdhEwz_671_3_wsPGmLUj3bEHfv1zTgoOkgHG8FKeF6vH1G9ZQHKKatQRaqcf_XItliOM44X_bJ69SAa2Gg0OBjZFDbIKYwAd5b8YAjaZ1610zAUMRlx3JJbFVZ825Wvk/s3264/IMG_2282.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3264" data-original-width="2448" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiqQ0LYgfC7mcsdhEwz_671_3_wsPGmLUj3bEHfv1zTgoOkgHG8FKeF6vH1G9ZQHKKatQRaqcf_XItliOM44X_bJ69SAa2Gg0OBjZFDbIKYwAd5b8YAjaZ1610zAUMRlx3JJbFVZ825Wvk/s320/IMG_2282.JPG" width="240" /></a></div><br />My previous shooter was faulty so I just bought a new water cannon-cum-cat shooter at Shoppe for under RM15 inclusive of transport cost. It advertises the water canon as a long range version but when I tested it, the water jet turned into a spray to a distance of 8-10 feet. I decided to inspect the nozzle then snapped the small tip which created the spray. The eye of the nozzle is now left totally clear. Even half loaded with water, it now squirts a jet of water comfortably to a distance of 24 feet. My previous water canon could only squirt a jet of water effectively to a distance of 10-12 feet. It became an effective cat shooter and was used to shoo away cats that, during the night, climb on top of the car, leave urine stains, scratch marks as well as dirty paw prints all over the car. The trick to ensure they never come again is to:<ol style="text-align: left;"><li>Walk barefooted in the compound so they are unaware we are close by.</li><li>A distance of 6' is very effective and increases accuracy of shot. <br /></li><li> "Shoot" them while they are in the act loafing on top of the car.</li></ol>From experience, they never come again so the water cannon serves its purpose well and as it only squirts water, it just hurts the cat's dignity.<div><br /></div><div>UPDATE:<br /><br />Being full of water, I let it rest against the wall only to see it slide and fall. The case cracked but I managed to seal it using PVC pipe glue and it works fine.</div>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-70968778142754666102021-10-13T12:51:00.003+08:002021-10-13T17:43:02.498+08:00Home DIY projects during Pandemic season<p> </p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; Mikhail has been very helpful and is very good in the plumbing arena. To call the electrician or plumber is expensive where in one instance, we had to pay the plumber could could not solve the blockage problem where the most he did was poke the flexihose in the distributor pipe but that's about it. The realignment of the kitchen sink pipe cost RM20 and saved me RM2000 instead of breaking up the kitchen floor to repair the original kitchen piping system as quoted by 2 plumbers. The purchase of the external drain flexi-pipes and attachments cost RM160+ and heaven knows how much the plumber would charge to clear the external drain blockage. The replacement of the WC pump helped resolve the silent leak into the WC helping us to cut down on water bill.<br /></p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-31687318779961564502021-10-13T09:13:00.005+08:002021-10-13T09:13:31.833+08:00Push-ups: The more, the merrier for my BP results<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zAQNzthe8lAHz729O_BQbKoiy8_buC_Yxe9WLbYIlqTQUyh9cjlca2GZbSORZnUV_7GRqCZGC5fFd9ImcxziSVFoO6xS0XoP_wQNquIUDB_SCq0EM8VGRMB0gg0fMEfxGoYpz73Fvls/s1810/IMG_1903.PNG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1810" data-original-width="980" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh7zAQNzthe8lAHz729O_BQbKoiy8_buC_Yxe9WLbYIlqTQUyh9cjlca2GZbSORZnUV_7GRqCZGC5fFd9ImcxziSVFoO6xS0XoP_wQNquIUDB_SCq0EM8VGRMB0gg0fMEfxGoYpz73Fvls/s320/IMG_1903.PNG" width="173" /></a></div>With the exceptional of taking anti-cholesterol pills since mid-2020 because home cooking with my mom-in-law around since early 2020 has been so delicious and irresistible and the Covid-19 Movement Control Order discourages (though does not restrict except for one short period) jogging which I have stopped but will continue when Selangor drops from being a red to green zone status, I have mainly been doing daily sit-ups but to a maximum of 30 as I do not want to exert the 2 hernia surgeries (left and right) I have. Recently, I added push-ups and have just managed to do 30 push-ups with ease and what I found out is that after I've add a bath and relaxed my body, doing a blood pressure check after that produces good results. I guess the push-ups flush out unwanted cholesterol out of my heart because achieving 120/80/60 or better is not a problem as before. Building stamina for push-ups takes time and is not an overnight possibility for me yet slowly but surely I managed for 10 to 20 and now 30 push-sups which to me is an achievement because it took me some time to overcome the 20 push-up mental barrier.<br /><p></p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-20002412356848331932021-09-26T16:15:00.003+08:002021-09-27T15:57:09.252+08:00The BMW 320 gets modified to save cost<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilRWp7C2Kg64itGhWhZXAqv0UVcinUwtQO6ebcjvRolsbRjnCgdjTjahNL76VFFqZMFppBr0v_kbhQA1aq3KI4Ygb3o1GsiVJ9AFXjuYNTlZpKkCZQWz-CrTRE5XLj8K4K3s1858bkd8A/s2311/IMG_1787.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2311" data-original-width="2311" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEilRWp7C2Kg64itGhWhZXAqv0UVcinUwtQO6ebcjvRolsbRjnCgdjTjahNL76VFFqZMFppBr0v_kbhQA1aq3KI4Ygb3o1GsiVJ9AFXjuYNTlZpKkCZQWz-CrTRE5XLj8K4K3s1858bkd8A/s320/IMG_1787.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBSGo0jQ7wqvNbG4tWzvbHfpQTwUkksjEnjPAR1jJOBLXckHv4t9Acm3q2jva1sWOnXr_N-Cjug3wK-Yj_-viPeV8BPYaeHg3ZmXw7k7vCO7a7Htn5qoURSFlSsvwvMoX7cFXmr_J4Z3E/s2048/682983C6-3512-473A-A182-FB70CB426B06.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2048" data-original-width="1536" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgBSGo0jQ7wqvNbG4tWzvbHfpQTwUkksjEnjPAR1jJOBLXckHv4t9Acm3q2jva1sWOnXr_N-Cjug3wK-Yj_-viPeV8BPYaeHg3ZmXw7k7vCO7a7Htn5qoURSFlSsvwvMoX7cFXmr_J4Z3E/s320/682983C6-3512-473A-A182-FB70CB426B06.jpeg" width="240" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJpNs9TphO0FPVCXOag-MjWKdinJ20wSEGf7bWE64SJ9Aa2TbGtYeVXuSNLhxZRNEIKaIcYNmUFOWz-u6_KUNkkBW54_54-Os_iN2fwp_fxZfPFLnL3048Ap-ksfBYnMqfihwmIUO74Ks/s3264/F9332568-01F0-43F9-98EA-2FD449DD46E0.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2448" data-original-width="3264" height="240" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiJpNs9TphO0FPVCXOag-MjWKdinJ20wSEGf7bWE64SJ9Aa2TbGtYeVXuSNLhxZRNEIKaIcYNmUFOWz-u6_KUNkkBW54_54-Os_iN2fwp_fxZfPFLnL3048Ap-ksfBYnMqfihwmIUO74Ks/s320/F9332568-01F0-43F9-98EA-2FD449DD46E0.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;"><span style="text-align: left;">A common problem among Malaysian BMWs is that the rubberized component of the door handles melts as they cannot handle Malaysian heat, I am told BMW rubber components use a higher percentage of petroleum to give the rubber component a softer feel. I gave up after 100 plungs/3 days in a row. In PLAN B, I gave a last try, short of calling the plumber, bought a brass guide wheel roller attachment. This time I attached 2 rods and gave it a try. After 3 plungs, the clogged part went through and the muck lying in the external drain followed through. Success!<p></p><p>The items bought are imported materials purchased from Lazada and total RM65.By the look of the quality, they can last a life-time to be shared with members of the family should one day they live in different houses. In fact, when the first cell is strong, one has a good stamina in all things related to the body. I found this out from two separate newspaper article: one from an article on Chinese Art of Qigong and secondly, from an article on Silat, the traditional Malay Art of Defense. Our first cell is situated in an area behind the navel but the muscle there is the weakness in the body because it is not attached to any body. The only way to compensate for this shortcoming is to build up that muscle through sit-ups. I unfortunately had 2 hernia operations and the surgeon said because of my senior age, I should not over do sit-ups for fear the medical mesh might tear and that would require another operation more difficult than the former. This is why I limit my sit-ups to 30 times. Alhamdulillah, ever since I followed this principle, I have not suffered any fever nor fallen sick.</p><br /><p></p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-4999428791094509482021-07-16T12:03:00.004+08:002021-07-16T12:03:44.584+08:00Slidesharing<p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ9SoNBkKpSIeipd1cnHtKwPHabeWr-1OKxYbIDJmLVmCYA4244YMLmvvQuYrjiFHLAGfnCsJB_qxXQ_B-DMPo1yOuYaNNesIXemr_Qj-zeeN1KNEbafKclsCqecae9yZqpEvE4sYZ14Y/s1280/Presentation1.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1280" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgZ9SoNBkKpSIeipd1cnHtKwPHabeWr-1OKxYbIDJmLVmCYA4244YMLmvvQuYrjiFHLAGfnCsJB_qxXQ_B-DMPo1yOuYaNNesIXemr_Qj-zeeN1KNEbafKclsCqecae9yZqpEvE4sYZ14Y/s320/Presentation1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div><br /> This represents <a href="https://www.slideshare.net/badaveil/peugeot-407-saloon-full-exhaust-modification" target="_blank">my first slideshow</a> at SlideShare as I decided to keep my many slideshows in this cloud. Years went by, commitments overtook reality but dreams always remained. After I pensioned in 2015, I felt as if I struck gold because since 2013, JPJ, the Road Transport Authority actually approved a CKD motorcycle that looked like one. With my Golden Handshake fund, I immediately bought a MOMOS/Regal Raptor Bobber 350. Now from a reliable source, I am told the original design concept for the Regal Raptor Bobber was based on the Paughco frame. What a coincidence! I got my dream after all....a Malaysian CKD version for that matter.</p><table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><tbody><tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhFq1rljUjhpxiEK20IOe-RKJQXzurDnAfARdaVHTSW6vYHZCPHTG4zXRjXyj56T2WHMIGls1FYYy_77L_x7w1bK2bibLrxhlTRTnHF3D6Tmgs_F8iUd-EvYKK3oIxPWE46UwO5ugGV7Cw/s720/IMG_1837.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; Other than drive her for regular appointments at Sungai Petani hospital and Padang Serai govt. clinic, I kept myself busy cleaning the house, cleaning the window panes, toilets, throwing the rubbish, watering the plants, painting fences, swing and walls, washing drying and folding clothes as well as ensure her breakfast, lunch and dinner were prepared in advance, thankfully, she had a close friend who helped cook every alternate days for a nominal fee. Upon a request from wifey to be there for a short while, I made the decision to stay with here until the doctor confirms her bone had successfully joined. I estimated based on personal experience, it would take 3 months but she consumed the latest Anlene Gold (wasn't around when I broke my bone) and it took just a month for the bone to join.<br /></p>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-18721877702912821712021-04-08T20:57:00.005+08:002021-04-09T10:26:21.302+08:00October 2020 Project<p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDuzMZtviGVgkIE-4iLBw7epzLkWbB0kfWQPdqXMQm3fTe9C1GxqehyEX6VmHvEB0HCMJnzEKZZL1yprzImYEhnR4s2o6NRneoBqgQe2naLZrW-Al5pxXCw88EOI_4Ehq_bjkAuM8giqU/s3733/IMG_0473.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="2576" data-original-width="3733" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgDuzMZtviGVgkIE-4iLBw7epzLkWbB0kfWQPdqXMQm3fTe9C1GxqehyEX6VmHvEB0HCMJnzEKZZL1yprzImYEhnR4s2o6NRneoBqgQe2naLZrW-Al5pxXCw88EOI_4Ehq_bjkAuM8giqU/s320/IMG_0473.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><p></p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbmF1xDkS3LAiufHcQ7ncGgh4m6jyA6jQSdJPlKcsK8GQTqtyZCkUOGMj1PRkQQhYN_EVw7U8HRgm-bF-_WTK5aLk2H7HiftskzsWElrQRWY5Gu5XWUbfYjcbcZluFMB20yiyCDHwyMNA/s4032/IMG_0309.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="3024" data-original-width="4032" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjbmF1xDkS3LAiufHcQ7ncGgh4m6jyA6jQSdJPlKcsK8GQTqtyZCkUOGMj1PRkQQhYN_EVw7U8HRgm-bF-_WTK5aLk2H7HiftskzsWElrQRWY5Gu5XWUbfYjcbcZluFMB20yiyCDHwyMNA/s320/IMG_0309.JPG" width="320" /></a></div><br /><p></p><p>It took 3 weeks to repaint the facade including the gate and dividing boundary walls because the earlier paint wore off after 8 years. It does not take hours but days to produce the desired result. Just when I thought a brush chrome finish will look fine having used the no.600 sandpaper, upgrading polishing to no.1000 sandpaper brought out the shine. Still, there were still fine scratches to be seen if one wants to be hypocritical. When I upgraded polishing to no.1500 a mirror-like glaze will eventually come out. Eventually I grew bored because it was like watching a movie in a different language so I eventually and by the grace of Allah, decided to flip through the pages of the English translation of the Quran. This again was a bit confusing as one is generally trained to approach it as how an academic book is structured but that was not how Allah meant it to be. Still, the more I delve and deeper into Islam, things became more interesting and clear. Here, I must thank the existance of the internet which is literally a data overload IF one takes the effort to search for knowledge. I began to understand more about myself and the why the Quran recommends this and that. And using Islam as a base, fundamentally I see the secret of life are three:</font></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><ol><li><span style="font-size: x-small;"><b><span style="color: red;"><font>Patience</font></span></b></span></li><li><span style="font-size: x-small;"><b><span style="color: red;"><font>Pray</font></span></b></span></li><li><span style="font-size: x-small;"><b><span style="color: red;"><font>Doa (Supplicate)</font></span></b></span></li></ol><div><font size="2"><i><b>Patience but why?</b></i><br /></font></div><div><font size="2"><br /></font></div><div><font size="2">The story of how Prophet Adam "tried to run before he could learn how to walk" when he was just created is very amusing to say the least but it clarifies Man is fundamentally rash. Thus, the best strategy to overcome this inherent emotion is "patience". One must keep cool and here, things can take a long time to resolve because one is constantly being tested on this matter. The question of patience is also relative to an individual but the more test of patience, the more Allah loves us.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br /></font></div><div><font size="2"><i><b>Pray but why?<br /></b></i></font></div><div><font size="2"><br /></font></div><div><font size="2">In making decisions between "right" and "wrong", the privilege given to Man, if Man is left unguided, there has a strong inherent tendency of the <i>nafs</i> or ego to sway to on the wild side of life. That is why Man needs guidance but because no one can read hearts, what better and wise way to seek guidance and protection from one's maker. The bright lights of life may divert one's attention because in Islam, life is a place for amusement and diversion. Thus, there is a need to constantly remind Man to take the straight path hence Islam makes it compulsory to pray 5 times/day. Experience shows this is true especially when one finds many forms of distractions that may divert his attention consciously or unconsciously to go off the track.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br /></font></div><div><font size="2"><b><i>Doa but why?<br /></i></b></font></div><div><font size="2"><br /></font></div><div><font size="2">Yes, Allah acknowledges patience and prayer fundamentally are difficult to practise (but not for those humble to Him). So to offset that, Allah gave to us, the most powerful thing in the world, powerful enough even to change the course of destiny if Allah wills it to be. That is a fantastic and tremendous thing because it can amend that which was already written in Loh Mahfuz from time immemorial. So in Islam, what is fated is not necessarily cast in stone though it obviously would require a sincere heart to fully submit to Allah.</font></div><div><font size="2"><br /></font></div><div><font size="2">CONLCUSION:</font></div><div><font size="2"><br /></font></div><div><font size="2">If one has an extremely strong faith in Allah, the above three are easy as tiddlywinks.</font><br /></div></div>Abbas AWhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16258480446911971324noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8211268199489194644.post-76666023420784791202020-06-28T17:46:00.010+08:002021-07-16T13:00:17.627+08:00Life is a test of patience<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Surah Al Baqarah is the second chapter is very meaningful to me and clarifies life is really but a perpetual test where Ayat 155-156 strikes a gong to my heart. My brother asked me whilst we were doing Umrah whether I had or was facing any serious problem and I replied 'No'. Then he quoted me that line and said to be prepared because everyone, Muslim or non-Muslim, will one day face a most serious test which could include one or a combination of things mentioned, personal-to-holder, designed to bring us closer to Him. For me, that test came some time after my Umrah. Every now and then, human as I am, when I am down-and-out, I recite and find comfort in a later Ayat as follows:<br /></font></div><div style="text-align: justify;"><font size="3"><br /></font></div><div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Who loves to have a cold shower on a cold morning? Definitely not me. It is sharp, stingy and jolts the mind and body. The coldest shower I had was actually for 3 days in Mecca because I thought the tap was faulty only to find out later that I did not tilt it enough. Now that was icy cold as it was in December. However, after the bath, I immediately began to sweat, yes, sweat profusely for a few minutes, thankfully in the comfort of the air-con room. I found out later that this is normal because cold water makes the blood move faster through the veins. Recently, I think over 3 months, my left shoulder and left neck gave me a bad sore. I believe it has been through an accumulation of bad sleeping posture. I massaged the sore for over a month but while it seems to be lessen at the core spot, it appears merely to have decentralized outwards. Then when I saw this a secret agent movie and how the hero was made to dip in icy cold water after being whacked around a couple of times in training bouts, I checked the internet and found that it is a proven scientific technique to sooth aches and sores. Thus, I decided to give it a try and knew it would not be as bad as my Mecca experience. Today, it has already been 3 mornings since I've switched over from hot to cold shower and I already feel the positive effects. But it is OK, I have already got used to it and for one, no matter how sleepy I woke up, it makes me start the day alert and fresh as the morning breeze. It looks like this is the way to go man as one grows older.</div>

<br />
The other day as I happened to walk pass by my neighbour's house, I saw her standing staring at her daughter's car. She pointed to a flat tire and asked if I could help. I saw my son was already trying to get the flat tire accessories from our car and told her what she really needs is a hollow pipe to effectively assist the job so I left to look behind our backlane for any hollow pipe as I knew there was a house nearby under construction. To my (or specifically "her") luck, I found a broken disused pole for broom. By the time I returned, I saw the neighbour's daugther solid-looking boyfriend trying hard to unscrew the tyre nut but to no avail. I came over, inserted the hollow pole over the tyre lever, strategically placed my hands so as not to accidentally bend the pole instead, tried my best and that pole did the job. After all the nuts were removed, I sprayed some slippery diesel over the bolts as I could not find my WD-40 spray. Before I left, I told my neighbour we must never forget what our science teacher taught us in school i.e. the longer the lever multiply by the same arm effort increases the pressure to release the jammed nut and how they will be useful to us when the time comes. <br />
<br />
CONCLUSION: Experience pays to acquire some added tip to do the job. In my own case, nuts were removed and tyre was lifted high enough but the rim was "glued" to the axle. No amount of kicking could get it off the axle. I thought it would be good if I had a sledge hammer or at least a rubber hammer then EUREKA! an idea popped out. I ended up using the spare tyre as my rubber hammer and after a few knocks at the glued tyre it came off. Yes, it pays to be creative.</div>

Wifey has been so busy with school chores lately that on the spur of the last moment, she asked my daughter to dish up anything for the family so that will be sambal cuttlefish and curry sardine which everyone in the family loves. My job has always been to ensure there were chopped onion and garlic ready as well as cooked rice readily available in the rice cooker.</div>
